Fall Walleye Patterns - Ottawa River

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fall Walleye Patterns - Ottawa River

Post by pchilli1 »

All,

Headed out of Norway Bay tomorrow afternoon. Fishing from 3-dark. Any idea what the fall pattern is on the river and have the eyes started to transition yet. I assume the usual evening routine (fish move shallower onto shoals, etc). Day time? Still holding in 20 feet?

Cheers,

P.

Can't speak for Norway bay but went out to Shirley's one day after work this week and was getting them in about 8 ft of water along weedy patches. Was out from about 6:30-8pm.

Last weekend I was getting them in 20-30 FOW around Wendover. Bottom bouncers rigged with a crawler harness. Harnesses with a green blade got the most action.

ya I have been whacking them recently as well, seems like the fall bite is a little earlier than usual :) Been catching mine on deep flats during the day, then in about 10 foot or less at night. Also try the rip rap shorelines, casting cranks has worked well for roaming aggressive fish.
