I gotcha, my bad....I must of skipped over the post where tbone mentioned the details of the unit he was talking about, just out of curiosity I'll check the website and vid for sure. Thanks
Checked out the video, looks like a well made unit I will give it that. Like I had mentioned earlier in the post I'm still skeptical, that didnt look like 17" of ice he cut threw in the video.
My thoughts, by the time you spend the $ for a nice 36V Drill for the attachment you could buy yourself a Gas Auger. Any of the drill conversions I have witnessed in person store bought or homemade were only good for a few holes, realistically an 18-20V Drill won't cut it.
If that drill in the video will cut 700" of ice on one charge I think every contractor including myself would go buy one, seems a little stretched.
It actually says you just need an 18v drill, not more than that. They do suggest you buy the best BATTERY for the 18v that you can. How much are drill batteries anyone know?
wow so many options im getting ice shack overload! Can anyone tell me roughly how large the flipover shacks are when they are stored? I have a smallish car with not alot of trunk space so they have to be very compact. If they are too big, im looking at a sub-zero 4 man for 299, or an eskimo 3man for 399.
When I was looking for an ice shack, I stopped in at Bass Pro. They had clams on sale. The salesman told me that there was a problem with the poles freezing and not sliding into each other when it got really cold. I have noticed some guy's with clams not completely closing up their shelters and material hanging outside the toboggan. I'm not sure if this was because of what the sales man said or if the guys were just lazy. Anyway the salesman talked me out of getting a clam. My wife bought me a three man Eskimo and I'm real happy with it. Used it 4 years now and it's just like new. There is a knack to setting it up, but if you follow the instructions and do it once or twice, it's easy. I set mine up in a hurricane last year, no problem. I was lazy and don't put snow on the skirt. The wind blew so hard it blew my seat cushions out from under the shack. After I sent up my shack I helped another guy set up his. It was all we could do to get his up. Once we did, it was flopping all over the place and he spent his day re-tying the guys an re-screwing the anchors so it wouldn't blow away. The Eskimo stood up great, no fear of it moving.

tbone, you might have a tough time getting a flipover in the trunk of a small car. I have an Otter one-man flipover and it pretty much takes up all the space that my old CRV can provide with the seats folded down. It might fit into the back of a hatchback, but it would be a really tight squeeze.
thanks for the info guys it looks like a sled shack is out of the question. I like the eskimo ones alot but havent found any with dimensions i want. looking for around 8x8 9x9, more important I need one that is 6' tall so I can stand and be comfortable. canadian tire has a 3man for 399 but it is too short. I know sail has alot to choose from, but they are not on the website!
avid I read a bunch of reviews for the sherpa portable and im sold on it I would like to get the 3 man but will get the 2 man if no other choice. If you guys haven't checked these out you should, made with very high quality materials, won't blow over in the wind and are designed for fishing in cold conditions.
I just checked sail and they don't have sherpas on the site, but they do have a rapala fat shack pop-up shelter on for 199(reg.299) Looks the same as the sherpas only bigger, anyone have one of these?
