Ice Reports

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ice Reports

Post by CCLad »

Good day all,

The hard water season is fast approaching. Like the past few seasons, I think it would be helpful for all on the board if we can make this post a sticky and have user's add ice condition reports to one thread for easy viewing/info. safe fishing,
CCLad.

That would be an excellent idea.
Would be nice if some of the more experienced "Ice People" here on Fish Hawk would give some insight as to what we (not that I will be going out) should be looking at before venturing out.

Good idea again this year CCLad. It worked well before and Craig had lots of fun with it too, as I recall

Btw, how did Shirleys treat you last year? Cheers

yuup won't be long now!!! This could be the longest season in years, im chomping at the bit to get out there ;) Generally people say 4 inches of good ice is safe to venture out on, I wait till at least 5 inches closer to 6. The quality of the ice also plays a factor. Strong black ice is much better than snow that has frozen up to form a weak layer. Be safe and wait for right conditions and cash in bud :)

Re: Ice Reports- Cloyne Area

Post by BigPaul »

Drove Saturday to my fish camp near Cloyne, Marble Lake froze over but looked very thin, Mississagagon Lake, only bays looked froze over, main part of lake wide open. Malcolm and Pine looked frozen over but no idea of depth. I just drove around up there as i had not planned on fishing there this weekend. Next weekend however once my Jason Mitchell Clam 5000 arrives its FULL OUT fishin!! :), Likely try to see if Story or Skoot or Shabo are frozen enough for a trip out.

First shack spotted... Hard top camper trailer out on the south shore of the Mississippi lake across from Pretties Island. Looks like he would have had to tow it out with a truck or SUV aswell
