People leaving garbage!!!!
Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
Good for you Arnpriormike. I'd bet you were some pee pee off that day seeing that mess again. That gets a big thumbs up from me. Assholes like that that have no respect for the environment don't deserve to enjoy natures beauty. Plus they wreck it for everyone else. I also don't have a prob with the toilets in the deep drink as they are totally inert and won't harm the lake at all. Better than smashing them and having to leave that mess behind. Good stuff man. Those citiots, (what was the age range you figure?) probably figured the mnr came in and cleaned it up so now they're staying away.
I still can't figure out how this has become so rampant now. Defacing our lakes like this through sheer laziness and lack of respect is as low as it gets in my books. Sure you would usually find some garbage here and there around some lakes and a pop can or cigarette pack in the bush but it seems now it's the norm. Maybe it's a reflection on society now with pit parties closing down good shooting quarries and now back country camping is all about heavy duty partying with no cops to worry about.
It should be easy to do the right things in life. Like clean up after yourself like your mommy taught you. Jerks.
Cheers

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
Thanks guys!
It was a hot day that day. I was still feeling the effects of heat stroke/exhaustion I took at work about two days prior. Thought I was good enough to go but when the afternoon heat hit, I was feeling it.
The land all around the area is crown, not private land.
The guy that was upset about me burning all the stuff that people worked hard at making. To make camping "comfy." What would possess you to thing that? Suck it up Nancy! No one wants to see your C R A P in the woods. If you can bring it in, bring it out. Carrying an empty case of beer on the way out is lighter than a full case on the way in!
As for the outhouse with toilets. The last thing on my mind is where the heck I'm going to s h i t in the woods. Are you guys totally useless? The time and money you spent on building an outhouse, you could have spent fishing. I go to this lake to catch fish, not to take a c r a p.
Every time I see your fancy stuff in the woods, I'll burn it! Thanks for the fire wood!
Couldn't help but notice where you're from. Food comes from a grocery store right?

I've often come across remote 'campsites' that have a table and benches and maybe a fish-cleaning station and I've
always appreciated a few 'creature comforts', enjoyed using them, and left them for the next person to use.

I certainly don't need an outhouse w/ a porcelain crapper, that is a bit over the top, I have no problem takin'
a dump anywhere in the bush, and I've never mistaken poison ivy for Cottonelle either.

I've NEVER left garbage in the bush, and folks that do need a slap upside the head and to have all the garbage
they left behind dumped on THEIR front lawn!!

And lastly, where I'm from. I grew up in the country, probably a lot more remote than you in the friggin 'Prior,
and I've done lots of back-country camping with NO 'creature comforts', so don't think because I happen to
live in the city now that I'm not as 'nature conscious' as you think you are!!

you had any right to destroy and burn what many people (me, for instance

useful had I chosen to go camping there. Last time I was at Wabun Lake I was disgusted by all the
garbage that some a$$holes had left behind, and especially by the big pile of wood and junk that
had only been 1/2 burned and doused leaving a nasty mess.(wasn't your handiwork by chance

If you don't stand for something,
you'll fall for anything!!

Good on you for the original poster for takibg the time to do that. Anyone who has an issue with you dismantling that should spend their times in provincial parks and spend the thirty bucks it costs to have those ammeneties. As for the toilets, good on you because certainly soms dumb ##%( will think it would be cool to smash it to little pieces. Those lityle pieces will cause more harm to the environment than in the water so thankyou

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
When I go out on Crown land, its to get away from people, from garbage, from the city, from noise...
I enjoy a toilet....but screw a toilet if it means I can be in the middle of nowhere on a kayak with a fishing rod in hand...
If you wanna treck stuff in and not bring it out, buy your own land and destroy that or stay home.
I spent last summer picking up other people's garbage in Hull. One day I'm bicking around looking for a place to shore fish and I end up fighting my way through a bunch of cut trees on the bike trail by the Gatineau river. I kept thinking -?&*?$%"$ disrespectfull kids... when I got to the end of the trail, there was a drunk guy there with his dog. He kicked his barking dog and he started swearing at me threatening me with ¨his chainsaws¨...My eyes rolled back in my head and I just bolted towards him. He ran off. He did not have a chainsaw in his hand. When I saw him run, I calmed down. As I walked off, I thought to myself, a Stihl would be a nice addition to my tools.

This year I spent most of my money on beer, women and fishing...the rest I wasted.

Crown land means no building or leaving of anything except tracks. Cyber if you are so "country" from places more remote than the "friggin 'Prior", why would you even consider using these creature comforts. IF you want picnic tables and fish cleaning stations, then carry them in, and back out, or better yet, camp in provincial parks as was suggested. Docks on a lake should be built on private land, or at a public boat launch.
Always amazed how some people seem to think they are entitled to do whatever they want. This is directed to the entitled who left the tables and potties. Probably left by some guys who are from more "remote areas than the friggin 'Prior".

Too Funny!!!
Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
Good for you, too bad ther are people to lazy or stupid that ruin everything for the rest. You got to wonder what their home looks like?? If you take it in, take it out. Doesn,t seem that complicated!!
Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
Good on ya Prior Mike! Nothing i hate to see more than whats left of our beautiful public lands completely defaced by stupidity and laziness. Being a young lad myself i cant see what the f*** is so hard for these guys, as i often am picking up after other too wether it be on atv trails lakes etc, you always come back with less then you left with so whats the deal right?... as for the toilets probably your second best option next to leaving them for someone else who likely would have been willing to haul them out but its done now
Pack out what you pack in!

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
well, I just have to say;
Good for you for cleaning up!
I have done a lot of cleaning up of messes myself.
As for labeling who does it... I know for a fact that there are MANY "country" folk out there who are just as big of idiots/abusers as any other.

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
i agree with most of you if you can bring it in bring it out... on the other hand en outhouse is int such a bad idea if the area is used often( as long as its kept usable), i dont mind digging and squatting but en outhouse is nice to have....specially when your with a group
.... ive been to to many places where all is fine and dandy until you walk a couple yards in the bush to find a bunch of piles and used toilette paper spread out everywhere...
