First thing to throw
With bass opening Saturday what's the very first thing you will throw?
The first thing already tied on for me is a white sweet beaver on a 1/2 oz title shot.
4 more sleepless nights!

I'll continue throwing senkos, they were a real killer last Saturday

There will be an influx of Great Grey Owls in the winter of 2017
Re: First thing to throw
Might start out with a scatter rap crank to build up some confidence. Shortly after, I will be throwing a jig.
Re: First thing to throw
Bass coloured skitter-pop was a hit on Monday. Biggest came off a livetarget baitball crankbait.
Was nice to catch fish all day again.

Re: First thing to throw
well I always start bass opener at first light with a topwater popper, to be honest my catch rate with topwater isnt great but its too much fun to pass up. Then as the day progresses I start searching around with my favourite search bait, good old 4" curly tail grub, I like it because I can fish the entire water column. If they are higher up I will throw a jerbait if they are down I will hit them with a dropshot or tube. Then as the sun gets up I switch over to fliping a creature bait in pockets and a weightless senko on outside edges.

And heading to a small pond size lake in the Perth area on Sat. our usual catch in there is always between 75-100 bass, what a way to open a season!!

I'll start with crankbaits. Probably a KVD 2.5 and a Rapala Clackin' crank. Not much difference just because it's the opener, I always start every day with crankbaits.
Where is everyone headed for the opener?? I'm thinking I'll head to Mississippi. Jon

You already know you will love it! You might have a hard time putting it down if you start with it though!!!River Monster wrote:Starting with a jig, just cause i want to try out a new combo, but shortly after busting out the frog
My buddy and I will be hitting the Ridau around 7:00AM. We thought about Newboro but I didn't want to drive that far and miss out on some fishing time.jona38 wrote: Where is everyone headed for the opener??

For me it will be a sub surface live target craw, followed up with a senko.

Re: First thing to throw
If I was to go out (What kinda of Bass tackle hoe misses out on opener?? I migt actually cry) I'd be throwing a Deps Buzzjet, Pencil 110 or PopR....nothing beats a topwater at crack O dawn!
I'd follow up with a sick stick, wacky rigged.
**Edited** I’ll even go as to say what combo I’d throw it on lo0ol
Topwater, MegaBass Flat Side Special mounted with T3 MX
Plastic, DX683 with SS SV
