morrisburg to johnstown

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

morrisburg to johnstown

Post by springbok196 »

fished the st Lawrence all weekend spent Saturday fishing iriqouis to morrisburg and sunday from iriqouis to Johnstown I was targeting muskie mainly but tried a little bit for walleye and when that wasn't panning out I ran the downriggers up the channel for fun to no avail the water temp range was 59 degrees and the vis in the water was roughly 20 ft used a wide range of baits from cranks to jigs spoons ect awesome weather weekend crap for productivity but hey it was good to be on the water I marked tons of fish and also seen a wide variety by eye looking into the water .sidenote if your launching down in this area use the launch at cardinal at the legion it is way better than the launches in iriqouis now that the water is down .

I had Friday off and my wife and I launched from Cardinal and put in about 5 hours. I thought for sure the Walleye bite would be hot as quite a few people had said they had caught their limit no problem there the previous week but we couldn't get them to bite at all. We drifted using worm harnesses and Reef Runners at various depths from 15' to 70' but not a single bite. I switched over to a drop-shot rig near the end of the day and landed a nice 4.5lbs smallie. Hoping to make it out again next week.
