Fishing the Jock

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

They closer to Richmond you get, the safer they are to eat on the Jock. Even so, don't make a meal of them every day. There are quite a few hot spots along the Jock between richmond and barrhaven

I fished the jock last week at the barhaven end and was pretty much skunked.... A juvenile rockbas and a logperch.

BRUTAL. I just moved to Barrhaven, and I've been thinking about hitting it up... this is very discouraging.....

Don't be discouraged E, you have a tinny! Take that out up and down the jock and you will get into fish. Lots of walleye and pike in there. As you get closer to Rideau river you'll get more bass. There is also musky in there and I saw a guy catch a carp by eagleson bridge on a spoon from shore. The water is pretty murky so I find the brighter and more vibration the lure gives off the better. My buddy got a 9 pound walleye from shore a few years back somewhere between richmond and barhaven. Have caught some decent eyes from shore at half moon bay in the past on a hot pink husky jerk. I personally wouldn't eat anythin out of there but there are some dandys for sure.

I second what fishaholic says, I have caught bass and Musky there. Some nice carp reported a month or so ago. It's not prolific but there are fish to be had.

Wouldn't eat anything out of there on the lower end but there are some nice fish between cedarview bridge and where it dumps into the rideau. I've seen some nice Pike and walleye pulled out of there and a few good ski's also.

There are awesome spots all along it, from the rideau to Richmond. If you have a kayak, you'll find musky, pike, walleye, bass, etc. Better fishing in early season though.

I fish the jock alot. At times can be hit or miss. Plenty of spots in barrhaven- Richmond.
I kayak fish so it makes it much easer.
Flash and noise is needed for the pike and skis. Bright spinner baits etc.
