This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Help me Catch my first Bass

Post by jhinbhoot »

Guys,

This is my second year of trying fishing from shore and I have learnt alot from this forum and still learning... This year I am planning to catch my first Bass (small/large).. Can you guys tell me any good spot where I can catch bass from shore and probably get some keepers? I am willing to drive though I don't have boat so looking for Shore spots only.

Thank you.

Hey, are you from Ontario or Quebec?
Try Clearance island if your from the Ontario, if your from Quebec, go to Hull at the Marina.

In both cases bring a topwater bait and a moving bait, Jerkbaits/spinner baits.

Good luck.

Deschenes rapids
Throw anything they will gobble it up

Bottom of the hogs back falls
Go to the bottom of the left side. Look for the giant rock sticking out on the left hand side. Jump across the rocks to it . Drop a worm and hook down the side of the big Rock and bam bass after bass

If you can drive to Carleton Place I can take you out on the Mississippi for some great fishing.

Let me know if you can get out this way and I would be more than happy to get you out!
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

Thanks ShawnD :) .. seems like a good spot for shore fishing... I will definitely try that out.. Any recommendation for bait/lure? I do have some top water baits and plastic worms with me.

Try the jock river landing in Barrhaven also. I have had some good luck there. Both with bass and pike, I've used top water, crank baits and spoons there, and have caught fish will all three. It can be a little busy sometimes with shore fishing, and other times you're all alone. God luck!

You can park it there, we just pull right up to the shore, or there is some spots around the bend, 10 meters away, I've never had an issue with parking there, good luck and have fun!
