Long Sault area

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Long Sault area

Post by Jimmy_1 »

Howdy

Anyone on here familiar with this stretch of the Larry?

How is the fishing for anything other than carp?

Got out for a bit on the boat last week when we stayed at Maclaren for the week but had no luck (carp was S-L-O-W but daughter got her first and is now HOOKED).

Not looking for any honey holes etc just general advice.

Is the musky bite any decent there?

We may set up a more permanent camp next season. So knowing a bit more about the fishery is nice.

Thanks!

Jimmy
that part of the st lawrence is all camping with parks of the st-lawrence i used to camp with them in ivy lee every year until they started charging for the extra vehicle (being the boat) 11 dollars a day and there boat launched sucked. The fishing is very tough in that stretch but i have had some success but if you were to ask me my opinion i would say search somewhere else where the fishing is better.

Great Smallie fishing and decent Walleye fishing that guys do at night mostly from what I see. Getting used to crystal clear water and current takes time.

Hey Folks, new on here...Great site. This is a great stretch of river. We caught 37 walleye last weekend in front of Mclarens/Farrans. Go deep my friend, they were caught in 85-95 fow. The unfortunate thing about fishing that deep is they all die coming up. We had to eat an 8lber and a couple 6's. As for muskie, well they are my passion. Better go to the ottawa river, you will have many skunked days fishing for ski out there, or head to summerstown/Lancaster area, better numbers there.
