Big Gator - First fish of 2016

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Big Gator - First fish of 2016

Post by darosa4 »

Got out fishing yesterday around 9am in the Ottawa area, managed to find some 4.5'' clear ice. As the day went on the ice progressively got thinner, caught this pike around 4pm through 3 inches of ice. what a fight. Setting the bar high early.

Wow, real nice fish. You sure did set the bar high. WTG.
That sure does look like clear ice. If this rain knocks the snow down on the lakes we should be making some good ice this week.

Cheers

Great fish man. I didn't even think the ice was thick enough for ice fishing. Nice work
