Post a pic of your best/favorite catch of 2016!
Hello everyone, I'm relatively new to this forum (2 days lol) but I feel like this is a perfect time to get to meet some of the users and see/hear their favorite or best catch of the year!
I'll start off with mine..
It was late June, very first day on the banks for me, about 8:30am, the day after the bass fishing opener, I started by throwing a senko around some heavy cover and was shocked to not get so much as a nibble (with the exception of a few ambitious bluegill) I had decided to call an audible and head to my favorite spot on the the lake, when I noticed some real nice looking Lilly pads. So I decided to give the old hollow body frog a try, and BAM first cast I nail a tank! She faught so hard that I thought I had hook a monster pike. When I got her out of the water she came unhooked Right as I got my net under her. Here's the pic of this beautiful largemouth, best fish for me 2016

Love these types of threats. I hope we see some nice fish posted here.
Beautiful fish, great way to start the season.
I already posted a PB/favorite I caught this year in another thread. but as for my second favorite catch, that's tough. Had an amazing year, both the quality of fish and the people I fished with.
Thanksgiving weekend I landed three giants. 6-2, 5-9 and 5-1 But it was the smallest one whose fight I remember the most. This gal put up one hell of a fight. Bombed a chatterbait to rocky point a couple turns of the handle and she hammered it. I didn't realize how big it was until I heard it jump. A couple minutes later she was safely landed.

I caught 30 freshwater fish species this year.
My most exciting catch was my smallest fish ever a number of Juvenile bullhead

Same fish on a dime:

My lifelist catches this year:
American Eel (Anguilla rostrata)

Banded Killfish (Fundulus diaphanus)

Emerald Shiner (Notropis atherinoides)

Spottail Shiner (Notropis hudsonius)

As for the others:
Not technically a fish but I caught a number of mud puppies in the early season:

A couple of Lakers:

A Sturgeon:

But this is the one that got my heart racing the most:

Things I could have caught this year but did not manage: Greater Redhorse, Yellow Bullhead, Muskie, Mooneye.

Caught this on my first cast on a new lake. First nice Pike I've caught in a long time, I forgot how fun they could be.

Wow! Great photos!! I wish I could better identify more species of fish. I'm having a hard time identifying the types of bait fish in my favorite lake.
