Live bait near Ottawa- calabogie

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Post by hipwader »

Hi guys, thanks for the advice on lakes near O town, any one know any live bait shops on the way to Calabogie? I know of one in Arnprior, would that be the closest?

There is a bait shop right in calabogie called Big Jim's I believe. If you are coming into calabogie by the 508 you turn left onto the 511, right near Munford's gas station, then continue down the road less then 1 or 2 minutes Big Jim's is on the left.

Check Al's on the highway on the way up. Always has nice bait...

Al's is no longer "on" the highway since they did construction last year. I think you have to exit to get there now. I believe it is the Fitzroy/Galetta Side Rd. exit. Maybe someone else has the exact exit details.

Jim's bait shop in Calabogie will have everything you need. Usually has lots of free advice too.

Sort of...Al's is actually on the Galetta Side Rd, but you have to take the Kinburn Side Rd exit, at the off ramp head north (toward Antrim/Kinburn), then left on the old hwy 17. After that, you either have to back-track to Kinburn Side Rd or go all the way to Arnprior to get back on the 417.
There are few problems in life which can not be solved with a well-placed, high-explosive projectile.
