Line breaks 2018 - where was I going wrong

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Just pull the knot nice and snug. A 1/4in. tag is perfect.

Fluorocarbon is non-stretch by nature, the days of tying the knot then taking three wraps of line around your left and right hand and just torquing the bejesus out of the knot are over. You can get away with that when using mono because of the inherent stretch of mono.

Now is a good time to practice a few knots.

Found a video of the G Man's favorite fluorocarbon knot: https://www.wired2fish.com/fishing-knot ... -jig-knot/

Well holy. I've been tying ALL my fluro line with palomar knots for about 5 years and have never broke off at the knot. Weird.

I use mainline fluro for all dropshotting and use a palomar and it never breaks even when using 8 lb.

Not sure what to do now..
