Hey all,
I just got a kayak last summer and I am unclear about the "rules" of launching my kayak from a public park. Do I need to go to a boat launch or am I allowed to put in anywhere that is publicly accessible?
Thanks in advance

according to this link.

Seems a bit restrictive to me. I certainly understand anything that needs a trailer so you don't drive randomly across parks but for stuff that you can portage ?
Anyhow, I've see lots of people launch kayaks and canoes from parks in the city so I'd say go for it.

I'd guess kayaks are also "boats" if someone wanted to enforce the rules.No person shall transport across, launch or beach a boat in any park except on a portion of land specified for such purposes.
“boat” includes a canoe, rowboat, punt, sailboat, outboard and inboard motor boat, and personal water craft;

Re: kayak launching
I have a little aluminum car topper, I now leave it at the cottage, but when I first bought it 6 years ago, I'd put it in the Rideau right in the city all the time. I had it on The Jock as well. I never had anyone bother me, and your putting in a Kayak. If you dragged across a beach or something with crowds, I can see someone getting out of joint. As Jsdx said, I would not worry. I see people around parks on the river all the time with their kayak's. They opened a spot on the canal a few years back specifically for people to put in their kayaks, and paddle boards. I think your just fine!

thx JSDX and FLOATFISHIN
I was planning on going with the "ask forgiveness instead of permission" route anyway .. but just figured I'd touch base with some experience
