South Nation River tips

Post by levitch »

Hello all

During my daily research for new fishing spots I happened upon the South Nation River! Wow! How did I not know about this river before? It’s beautiful!

So... I plan on putting my kayak in there very soon. Any tips would be most welcome!

I've only been into the mouth of the S Nation where it meets the Ottawa R by Wendover. My buddy swore it offered good late fall muskie fishing.
Another friend shared tales of good walleye fishing up river. Couldn't say where.
Reminds me: A good buddy of mine (who is a much more attentive fisher than I) typically responds with "in the water" whenever I inquire as to good fishing spots... LOL

Multiple good fishing spots on this river. Realy good for rough fishing. Lots of catfish, carp, redhorse, drum, mooneye... Lots of sportsfish as well...

Your right though many people do know know of or appriciate it. Many conservations areas to fish from or start your kayak trips from. Some of the areas are exceptionally rural. It can can really shallow in spots during the summer.
