Golden lake/Barry’s Bay

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Golden lake/Barry’s Bay

Post by PerchSlayer123 »

Good day friends. I have a simple request.
I'm looking to do some ice fishing on Golden Lake near Eganville.
This will be the first time and I am unaware of where to fish and how to access the lake publicly.
I have driven past a few times and I have seen huts on the lake but near open water.
Any suggestions or assistance as to what and what not to do would be greatly appreciated.
In fact, I am looking to do some ice fishing also around the Barry's Bay area and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
A small qualifier. I don't have a snowmobile so I am somewhat limited as to how far I can go.
Sincerely,

PerchSlayer123

You could check out Sunny Hill resort on Bark Lake. The have their shacks out now and specially if you go during the week you should have no problems renting a shack. That's where I first learned how to use an actual real tip up for Whities and Greys too. We caught suckers too after chumming with corn. $35 /day per person for shacks, not sure if that includes transport but the shacks are .7km away across the mouth of the bay. Cottage rentals as well. Had many a good long weekend there in the past.

When I did ice fish Golden Lake, it was at the shoal that was off the united church camp at Deacon. Access for us was from our cottage. Public could get access from the road stop across from the restaurant in Deacon. Problem is most good fishing is a ways out from shore.

Are Lakers and whitefish in golden? Are there any other lakes near Barry’s Bay that you would recommend for a good day of fishing? I don’t mind weather it’s perch, Lakers, whitefish, pike, walleye, etc... I just want to hook something

Thanks,

I mostly got Walleye, perch and ling mostly on Golden Lake.

No problem. Many good lakes up there. Also That area has Algonquin park. Some good fishing there as well. Also I did not mention it, but also the Bonnechere river between Traymore and Golden Lake has many good spots for pike, bass, panfish and perch.

Heading up to Bark Lake this weekend... Anybody know if the ice is still safe for foot traffic and drilling a few holes?

Thanks
