Calabogie area

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Calabogie area

Post by moostash1957 »

Anybody been in any little lakes behind Calabogie lake to check on the ice out situation. I am thinking of walking around Blythfield long for a few specks but have showed up 2 years in a row toooo early and not enough open water to fish in.

The smaller trout lakes in North Frontenac (north of Plevna/Ompah) are all open...not that far from Calabogie. The trails are a mess though.

However not sure what's happened with the stocking program this year and last with the Covid situation. Blithfield Long usually gets a good drop of yearling Rainbows every year, but I heard the OMNR was switching to Brookies in that lake. The lake I like in Frontenac for Rainbows, seemed to only have hold-overs in it this year. I assume the hatcheries will have to do something with these fish...

Looks like they stocked both in 2020 according to fish-online, not many though.
