Loughborough week

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Loughborough week

Post by goshawk »

Hey guys,
I'll be at Loughborough for a week of fall bassin' at the end of Sept. I haven't been there for a couple of years due to Covid, but I've been to the Inn 5 times so far and totally enjoy that location and the lake. I've spent most of my time there on the upper section chasing largemouth, but have ventured to the lower section and had some fantastic catches of smallies too.
I'm just looking for some current information on the lake itself. Has the water temp on both ends of the lake started to drop yet? How is the water clarity? Have the weeds on the north end started to die off already?
This may be my last kick at the can for Loughborough so I'd love to make it a memorable outing. I'm considering selling the boat at the end of this season as it's getting much more difficult to launch/recover the boat on my own.
Tight lines everyone and thanks in advance!

First evening done. 1.5 hours on the lake before dinner. I managed to find a school that was chasing 2" bluegills. I caught 9 of the small largemouth (1-1.5lb). On the outer edge of the school were some larger fish. I hooked into 4 of them, but only managed to land 2....3lb 7oz largemouth and 4lb 10oz smallmouth.
This is going to be fun!!!

Thanks Jim. Today was a bit of a challenge because of the wind, but still managed to have a pretty good day....including a 3.5lb largemouth. Going to give the lower lake a shot tomorrow if the wind stays manageable.

Day 3. No pics this time because I forgot my phone in the cabin, but had another fabulous day on my favorite lake today. I stopped at my new spot early this morning and caught 3 decent sized largemouth, then got on the throttle and went to the south section to my favorite location....a very long rocky point where the rocks start at 6' and go out to 35'. I managed to capture another 15 largemouth and 9 smallmouth, including another 4lb smallie that jumped off at the boat. 27 bass in a shade over 4 hours. I haven't made up my mind whether I'm going out again later this evening before or after dinner, but if I don't I have no complaints!!
