I’ve been getting out alot this spring for landlocked salmon. Mostly targeting them and not the lakers.
First 2 weeks of the season 35-45ish water temps. Casting spoons in the current at the mouth of a river and trolling small crank baits on flatlines was working good. Depth was 10ft all the way to 80ft but I ran lures 5-15ft down.
but as the water warmed up the bite got deeper and changed a bit. Leadcore and dipsy divers with spoons have been taking the most hits. Especially green ones. Depth was 30ft too 90ft of water but I kept my lures down 30-50ft.
I tally release all the fish I catch but I had my buddy out fishing one day and we decide to bring one back for a shore lunch. We also checked the stomach and it was full of small smelt minnows 1-2.5in.

Lots of lakes in Quebec are crazy with their prices! I have a family cottage on the lake I mostly fish luckily. But exploring New lakes can get expensive.highlander wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 7:48 pm did it cost ya $80 bucks to launch with a boat cleaning?
