Ice Rod Case idea - bored at work now....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ice Rod Case idea - bored at work now....

Post by CCLad »

Hi folk's I was getting the ice gear ready - and wrapping some Christmas presents and came up with an idea. I personally always have 1 rod set up with a jig and the other with a hook and sinker. As I'm pretty set in my ways with respect to the type of jig I use, I very seldomly change it.

I have a soft rod bag that I keep my rods, spares and other various items I use fishing and I always take all my gear with when leaving the ice. We never leave anything of value in the hut. Sad but part of reality these days...... So I came up with the below idea so I don't have to remove the tackle/hardware off my rods and put back on again next time out. If I don't remove the jig/hook it will inevitably get stuck into something that's not a walleyes mouth, thus Causing me grief :) - Yes you can call it being lazy not wanting to remove and put the hardware back on, I call the idea, being efficient :)
1) Get cardboard wrapping paper tube.
2) Wrap the tube in packing tape (and put some packing tape inside both ends) this makes it water resistant...
2) Measure, tube vs rod, cut to length and tape the bunji in a spot on the tube allowing for enough length for potential energy to hold the new "rod cover" in place when attached to the rod.

Lures and hooks now go onto an eyelet, slip cover on, connect to rod! *** I have now increased my fishing time by at least 1 Min and elevated 1 irritating task!!! LOL

Cheers all!

That's nice, I built one with plumbing abs pipe a couple years back. Works well for two rods.
