Lake Clear Access

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lake Clear Access

Post by pickereye chaser »

Hello All - thinking about making the drive out to Lake Clear this weekend.

Is our best bet to walk out from boat launch in the NW part of the Lake?

Hi there, I was out on Lake Clear last Saturday. We accessed from the beach on the NW side and the walk is pretty easy since there’s not much snow. The access point on the south side also is fine. The NW side beach has on-ice parking, and I’m pretty sure you could park on the south side as well. Up to you based on which part of the lake you want to fish.

Best of luck, we were blessed with an absolute Walleye smash fest when we went out (and it was our first time on the lake :D). Hopefully you can get on a good bite!

Great timing. I was planning a trip there in a couple weeks too. Thanks for the info!

My question is if there are any Lake Trout left? Last observation date on fish on-line is 2014.

Lake trout is closed there during the winter, so not currently an option to target... just something to keep in mind.

Also, I wouldn't put too much faith in the records on fish-online. For some lakes, not having a recent report of a certain species can be an indicator that there are less of that specific species, but more often than not I find that it's just because people don't update it. I'm personally not too sure what the Lake trout fishing is like during the season they're open (which is the 3rd saturday in May to September 30), but I seem to recall hearing that people still target them by boat, so it might not be a waste of time to give it a go, come spring.

Thanks for the info, John! I really appreciate it. Admittedly, I forgot to check the water body exceptions before I posted initially. I appreciate you pointing that out.
