Markus' motor woes

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Markus,

Sounds like fuel to me. Does it do it all the time? Can you back off then get it to rev again for a short time again? I would pull the carbs and clean them before purchasing expensive electronic components. Debris in the bowls can cause that. After a period of open throttle it will get sucked up and paritially block your mains. Thats not good... Outboards run lean enough in this cooler weather.

It isn't consistant. If you back off the throttle, it'll return to normal rpm's. Is getting the carbs cleaned a big job?

Its a little time consuming but not hard. Are you handy with the tools?

I'm handy with tools, but I just don't have a clue about mechanics. :?

If the motor is the hands of your mechanic currently, I'd ask him how much to have it done.

The reason being, there are many little parts. I have a tendancy to loose and/or break little parts.

Not really, but make sure you don't move the needles around too much, and also make sure you don't toast the seals.

PM your # and I will walk you through what my mechanic tols me.
