I have noticed that Petrie has slowed down; or I need to move. I have my hut out of the bait shop bay in an area with a mild current. I believe M.T. pointed out that there is a creek there. I know to well that a strong cold can slow down the bite and have not yet fished the hut in the warmer weather. I am debating on moving into the bay a bit more (if I can find room) after fishing the warmer weather at least once if I get skunked. We did lose three pickeral and caught a Ling Friday afternoon. Is everyone else finding things slower in the first bay?
Cheers,
Scott

I would like to now retract my previous post. I am now certain the cold had an effect on the fishing. Since yesterday was warmer I hit the hut again. Caught a 16.5 inch pickeral around 5:00 last night. Then after a 2 minute battle a huge pickeral popped it's head up my hole for me to grab; 24 inches! No scale but I would guess between 4 and 5 pounds.

I've been fishing Petrie for over 10 years, and each year, the bite is really good from first ice until mid to end of january, then it just slows down alot up until march. The cold probably didn't help much, but trust me, I strongly doubt that you will have success the way you probably did in late december....
take care,

And some huge hit and misses, a beauty 14 inch perch and a couple of bass again. yesterday was slow some perch and a smallmouth(again), and today was out for an hour and missed one on the tip up! Whats goin on friday I'd like to sample the hut, let me know, u could come to clayton saturday, but I'm guessing she'll be a zoo. Let me know!
