Harrassment on Hawk Talk

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Harrassment on Hawk Talk

Post by Fishhawk »

Ya know what we try to provide here? A spot where people can exchange info about fishing with each other. We try to provide an environment that is healthy for just about anyone, especially youths and kids. We try to show how there can be many points of view on the same issue.

It works pretty well around here.

Ya know what ruins it? I really take it personally when people feel they can hide behind a username, a computer monitor, and distance, to direct abuse at someone else. It's cowardly. Not funny. Cowardly, and probably what one would expect from someone with a juvenile mentality.

And it is not welcome on Hawk Talk. And neither is anyone who feels the need to do it.

Ya know, it is pretty hard and thankless work providing this kind of servicefor people to enjoy. The payoff comes from simply knowing so many people enjoy the Community. People are given a lot of lattitude to say pretty much whatever they want to around here. It's too bad that some think that this lattitude includes free rein to harrass the people who work hard to make this board what it is. Well it doesn't.

No body earns the right to harrass anyone around here. And I am not going to entertain abusive posts, or abusive participants, not for a second. Especially when the abuse is directed at people who don't earn a penny for trying to make this board as good as it can be.

We ask a lot of the participants on Hawk Talk. Participating on Hawk Talk requires some measure of responsibility. The greatest thing we ask is that people be responsible for being respectful of one another.

If exercising respect for others on Hawk Talk is something you feel you are not capable of, send me a PM and I will ease your burden.

Right on, I joined this board after having experienced other boards. This was such a vibrant and relaxing board to be on. Knowledgable and friendly people, willing to help and give good advice. All obtained from years of experience. This is something that can not be bought at any price, but can be lost over nothing. Lets not be like the other boards. Lets be the model for others to follow.

100% agreed.....

This board has more activity on it than any other....with a great community...instead of sitting back and taking potshots at people....go out and meet some of them.....and maybe you'll think twice about what you type...

If you think you are better than the rest of us...there are plenty of other sites for you to frequent...

If you don't like what you see.....move on....

Bottom line.....Grow up...

:) I guess with 1300+ members we're bound to find a few that will be a little rough around the edges. Hopefully the rest of us will lead by example and keep this board the incredible place it has been to date.

Good work Fishhawk and Bobber, and thank you for your time and effort in making this place what it has become.

I also agree 100%

There are so many knowledgeable people here that are always willing to help and make our fishing experiences into life long memories. Of course from time to time discussions come up where everyone doesn't always see eye to eye. Sometimes we have to agree to disagree but discussions should never become personal attacks.

Let's keep hawk-talk at the top and not allow a select few to drag down our good reputation.

I don't know what provoked that but I also agree. This isn't a place to settle personal vendettas. Voicing an opinion is one thing, harassment is another. Let's keep these boards nice & clean like they've always been! :D

Well said FH - I agree 100% also - This board provides a great vehicle for exchanging fishing knowledge and making new friends both on and off the water.

FishHawk, Bobber and Markus my thank you for the hardwork and the amount of your precious time that you all dedicate to keep this site running. You are doing a great job.

And I think that all Hawk-Talkers know we all have to do our part to keep this great site going. So I say to all keep working hard to keep our site going despite our differences. It all comes down to the thing we all love to do -FISHING.
