For Nassau Frank - A Question

Hi, Nassau Frank, (you lucky son of a gun there in the nice weather)... You can come out of your punishment corner now! I will give you something constructive to post about, as your mind was wandering.

Just wondering what you consider the greatest gamefish in your "neck of the balmy woods"? I know very little about ocean fishing, but I have heard that tarpon and bonefish are an absolute THRILL to fish for. What about barracuda? I don't know what species you have at your lovely doorstep, but am interested in what some of your experiences have been. Do you have any pic's to post?

It's nice to imagine fishing some place warm, or at least above freezing, as we sit here on a snowy, late February afternoon.

Suck it up and enjoy the great white north.Just returned from 6 hours on the ice with the Scumprince and it was great.

Frank you definitely have it great down there but a day like today out on the ice was terrific..

Wolfe how goes the icefishing experience I just took it up this year and after a month to figure it out I'm starting to have success.Missed you by a week at Petrie.

This place has its' challenges, too. Groceries are expensive and of poor quality, wine is expensive(rum is cheap) traffic is horrendous etc. That's why we vacation in Canada. I'd love to ice fish sometime but just don't go north of Ft. Lauderdale in the Winter.
Now to fishing... Bonefish on a med wht fly rod is just awsome. Their runs and stripping line is almost indescribale. It's almost more like solitary hunting than convivial fishing. Getting in a school of Dolphin (fish not mammal) just is an incredible rush that goes for a while with schooling, slashing activity all around. Baracuda are a annoying.Deep snappers are fun but at 600 ft electric reels take the fun out of it and just the harvest aspect. Never hooked up to a marlin. Usually spear grouper, not hooks & line.

Nassau Frank: How come? I would have thought they were a challenge, like the predatory musky, in a "salt water kind of way".

The first and only time my family went sea fishing off the New Jersey shore, my father got a beautiful weakfish. I got seasick. Perhaps sticking to the calm flats for bonefishing would be more my thing, hmm?

Scumking, yeah, I'm sorry I missed you during our get together on Crappie Bay. It would have been nice to meet you. There will be other chances, I'm sure. And it would sound as though you are ahead of my game with regard to getting the knack of ice fishing. I have only been out twice and feel just about as clueless as ever. But hell, I can use an auger! (I'll keep trying ) Glad you are catching on!

Baracuda are no more a challenge than perch ( as I understand perch) they screw up trolling , casting et al. Theyare not a challenge, only an annoyance. OOps long dinnner paty tonight. Say good night Frank.

Nassau Frank, do the Submarine Ride still exist.....I had the chance 5 years ago, to do that ride....WOW...what a experience....Up to 100 feet deep, all kind of fish, barracuda at 3 feet from the big window...sink boat, and the cherry on the cake, a giant sea turtle....the white sand bottom...

Would do it again anytime

They were in business only a couple of years. The guy who owned it then went into the advertising business and just died about a year ago. Dropped dead of a heart attack at 52. It was a good attraction
