What are your goals this season?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

One on top of my list is to go trout/salmon fishing at least once, (ice fishing doesn't count unless I get one).

After that:

~Land in the money a few times in the bass tournies.
~Target walleye up until muskie season and hopefully catch a few of decent size :? I'm thinking a fall Quinte trip is also in order.
~Try to hook into a gar.
~Try for my personal best muskie although the last one may be hard to beat...
~Start catching bigger fish through the ice :?

My goal this year is to have my 5 year old son land his first pike.

Everytime I see a large fish posted here I call him over to have a look and talk about it.

Last year he caught a 16 inch small mouth and I was so excited I freaked him out a little bit but he's more into it now.

I was shopping around at the boat show this past weekend for a new rod and reel combo for him but it always seems best if you let kids pick out their own stuff, with guidance of course.

I also wish to go fishing with many other hawkers as well. As much as I want a boat I do enjoy being able to go places in my canoe that others in boats cannot so I am open to taking someone to a spot they know of.

My goals are as follows in order of preference.
1. To relax more when out on the water.
2. To catch at least one of every fish in the virtual derby( Hopefully 5 of each)
3. To meat and great many more fishing parteners on this board and others.
4 To catch my first 50 inch musky.
5 To catch my first Hybrid over 40 inches( caught 2 last year just short)
6 To catch a 6lbs Large Mouth Bass.
7 To catch a 5 lbs smally.
8 To locate good productive fishing for Cats and Carps.
9 To remeber all my gear at least 90 percent of the time.
10 To Introduce at least one non fisherperson to the sport and hopefully a new hobby for life.

I have a few...

Bring my daughter out as Ed gave her some great looking worms on the weekend!

Would love to catch my first carp, gar, salmon, musky and splake

That's going to be a lot of fishing

More importantly, I'm going to fish a little less for my typical bass, pike and walleye and start targetting more trout.

Figure now that I'm in a canoe that just means more trout for me.

I almost forgot... go fishing with a lot of Hawk Talkers.

I have three goals this year:

1) To learn how to fish for other species (other than muskie) with greater efficiency. That's where I hope all of you will help me out.

2) To help many of you to land that personal best muskie. Lots of room in my boat, all you have to do is ask.

3) To see Float Fishin' land a 50+ inch muskie on a top water bait! This is the year buddy! :) I gotta see that jig again.

Goals for 2005...

Post by Duck Gunner »

Hmmmm, let me see here...

Well my #1 goal is to get my @#$%ing BOSS off my back so I can concentrate on important things like Hunting and fishing!!! :P :P :P :P :P

As for outdoor activities:

- catch my first musky, gar pike, sturgeon and salmon, not necessarily in that order...
- learn how to use a baitcasting set-up...
- catch a walleye >10lbs.
- a pike > 15lbs.
- a smallie >6lbs.
- a largemouth >8lbs.
- limit out in big fat mallards on opening day.
- bag a couple of Canadas
- shoot a nice big deer to fill my freezer. :D :D :D :D

Mostly, spend more time on the water, meetin and greetin fellow HawkTalkers.
For some of these goals, I will need the help of some of my fellow HTers. Especially, the salmon and musky...
