Fishing with Fish-Hawk

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

What an incredibly thick muskellunge, Lucky.

Congrat's.

The pics are excellent -- I love the release shot where you can see the fish's head so clearly underwater.

Are you still shaking, Lucky?

Wolfe,

I would probably have shaken if I had missed that fish! This is the 6th musky caught with my spinning outfit so far this year. Did you commit yet on your new musky tackle?

And, yes, I agree, these release shots are really nice to look at.

LuckyCharms, I mean Lucky4 (damn, you ARE lucky, or skilled I should say!!)...

I did not yet commit to a muskie set up, but Brian has been helping me to sort through the info I rec'd from friends here, and also we have been checking out the 'net and a couple of local sporting goods stores. It doesn't matter (yet) as I have been skunked by those toothy devils my last 2 trips out. Might be one more trip in the cards for me here; that's about it, though.

Anyway, will you consider a replica mount of that last musky? It's a trophy, but I'm so glad you didn't make it an official one!

Hey Wolfe,

No replica mount for me! I am not very good at removing dust and I would not know where to put it anyway. Plus it is not cheap.

I made the mistake once to get one of my fish mounted. It was a nice 24 pounds pike, caught in Alberta. However, once I had it back, even if it still was a big pike, it wasn't exactly the one I had caught. Finally, when I left AB, I gave the mount to a friend that has a small fishing tackle store.

Today, the best souvenir I have from this fish is a good framed picture hanging on a good spot on my wall. I am going to do the same with this beauty musky.

My point of view is that pictures are cheaper, they show you, the people you were with, the fish with its real colors, the spot where it was caught, the season, the weather, etc. A good picture tells you a story. Plus you know your fish is still swimming and contributing to the gene pool of the species...

Now the only problem with that is I am starting to lack room on my walls!

I can understand why! Pardon me if I don't pity you your "problem" too much!! Great points made, by the way. Way to go, Lucky4!
