It's really simple. You take an Eastern Ontario Backroads Map Book, A Stocking List, and go looking for a lake. most of these lakes require a snowmobile, or atv, and for some at VERY least 4 wheel drive.

Otherwise, there's always silver lake.
Small lakes like these never get named. The last thing i want is go to one of my favorite lakes and find 100 poeple fishing it !!! What would happen if 100 poeple took home limits ???? Thats 500 fish!!! Some of these lakes only recieve 500fish/year..... All of these lakes are named in the backroads mapbook like Kodiak said...
If you want specks you need to put in some foot work!!!!!

Or you can walk it....Chuckles and Jig head walked about an hour through trails with gear to get to Lake A
Yeah you could walk it... I mean you can walk from Ottawa to there also... It's hard to guess how long/far something is while you're walking.
If you decide to walk, you're better off to have some idea where you're going. Carlco and I went looknig for a lake this summer... we drove for 30 minutes with the truck looking for it. Once the fuel light came on, we started worrying about running out of gas, so we unloaded the quad, and pulled the boat and trailer around with the quad for about 40 minutes. We found it, but that would have been a solid 2-3 hour walk.
Use some common sense. There are lots of lakes on the side of main roads, I'd stick to those if walking is your only option.

Lucky for Jig head and Chuckles the walk was an hour....As kodiak said, use common sense when planning on walking to unknown lake......And if you are planning to walk there from Ottawa
I've hadbad experiences with the backroad mapbook from quebec..It said that a creek named ruisseau blanchard. I went fishing there and I was chased away by an angry guy swearing at me in french and chasing me on his ATV. Apparantly it was a hatchery
with that being siad...i can't really say I trust them anymore
They don't show any streams either but from asking around I've found some for next year in quebecnot far from ottawa...apparantly they contain BIG brookies
I also don't believe in put and take. I'm sure the ruisseau de la brasserie could be good fishing if people didn't eat all the fish. I release them all anyways...someday i'll catch myself a biggun from there

Hmmmmmm, you know Kev, always walking and talking the banks with all who will listen while he partakes in his fishing. I think I remember ya though.
Thanks for the invite out. When I take up residence in 18 months or so in the southern part of the province I look forward to discovering tonnes of new lakes in my boat and tube. It'll be great having company Jiggy.
