SHORE FISHING.......

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

You got a point there Joco...I used to do shore fishing all the time at La Blanche river in Gatineau....I have so many pics of fish caught there. I have fished that body of water since I was 12 and my most memorable outings came from that river. Most people never believed my stories of La Blanche River but all I can say about it is ...if they only knew!

There is something special about shore fishing if you are able to move to different locations. For one walking those distances is good for your health and it brings you closer to nature. It also polish your casting skills because trees and other obstacles in your way. This is when fishing deserve to be called a sport!!!

One thing though...mid summer or not dress up full gear....lots of bugs that wants your blood!!!!...But for the love of fishing!!!!

Here is one pic of a musky caught in La Blanche River just beside highway 50 near Laurin exit.

Image

and another of Richard who was a non believer till he caught this musky...notice the rocks that you can see as you drive beside La Blanche River after Laurin Exit..the pricise spot for this musky was just under the red bike bridge 100 meters from the highway bridge.

I love to shore fish and wade as well. Some places a boat just isn't the best option.

Last year for the bass opener, the old man ( he who owns the boat ) was working so I decided to shore and wade instead. I had one of the best openers ever!

I love shore fishing. I'm still trying to get the Ottawa area figured out as to where to go without being surrounded by people. I guess I'll so some exploring this spring and summer. Still want to get a boat someday though. Its alway nice to have more fishing options :D

I prefer fishing from a boat, and do so most frequently; but when I do find myself shore fishing, I get a real kick out of it. It can be so much fun!

The kids had an absolute BLAST shore fishing at Charleston Lake last year. We couldn't keep the fish off their lines!

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Joco, I don't own a boat so I have to rent 1, so most times I get my line wet it's from the shore. In the last 5 years or so I have sniffed out many spots on 3 different lakes here in Jersey, all within a few miles of my house.

I frequent these spots according to season, spring being the most productive. I have a ritual, when the closing bell rings at work, I speed to my destination with baited breath(LOL), break out a cigar and a drink(diet soda :?), and get to it.

I use both lures, worms and sometimes minnows, get Crappie, Bass, and Piceral, but toss em back, it's da thrill ya understand!

It gets my juices flowing, by the end of May I'm ready for my Canada trip, Gananoque Lake here I come! Nice to know there are many others fishin from shore and havin a good ole time.

Your Shore Fishin Bud, Joe.

Where do you shore fish. As I don't have a boat this is all I do. My top spots are :
#1) the bay across from the Manotick Marina

#2) Black Rapids.

#3) on the Jock at Greenbank. The bridge on the bend.

#4) Victoria Island

#5) below the dam at Long Island locks.

Anybody else have any favourites.

Dow's Lake - mainly pan fish, but some nice bass in there as well (pike and muskie are known to hang out there as well).
Deschene Rapids Lookoff - channel cats

I want to give Morris Island Conservation Area a good look see this year.

growing up on the rideauI have always loved it, the river side (not the canal) between watsons mill and long island is good as well as the bay below the Dam(not the wall) at long island.
