I agree with 1lastcast, soft bags are the way to go.
I have an old Tackle Logic tackle bag that holds a ton of stuff. In the main compartment I have all my plastics stored in 3 BPS Finesse bags. My spinnerbaits & skirts are kept in a soft bag too.
The two side compartments have 4 (2 each side) Plano 3771 boxes. I like the 3771 because it is only 1 3/8in high as apposed to most of the 3700 line that is 2in high. One for terminal bits & pieces, one for topwater, one for minnow baits & one for crank baits. The two end compartments hold fishing line & small tools. Keep all your hardbaits segregated in the Plano boxes, pike stuff, walleye stuff, bass stuff etc. Then all you have to do is grab the boxes you need for your trip. Plastics can be segregated accordingly as well.
One last tid-bit of advise. Do all the research, check out everybody and every product. Make a decision on what exact product fits your style of fishing; then buy one size bigger. NOBODY EVER COMPLAINED THAT THEIR TACKLE BOX/BAG WAS TOO BIG. Whatever you get make sure you have room to put in all the stuff you haven't bought yet.
Good luck
