Fishin' Gear in Ottawa area
i used to work at one of the local tackle shops in Ottawa and sure i may have not been the most knowlegable person, but i was there trying to learn, meet new people, learn new products and tactics, and guess what... i did it all for free... i did not make one penny from it... so before you guys go around bashing the people that work at shops like this, try and think about what they are getting out of it... instead of complaining that their information is not upto par with what you may know... try to educate someone so that they can further on help someone in need with the information you have provided... if you know more about the products on the market... why dont you try to work at a tackle shop if you're soo "informed" you should be able to run a place like that... and if you are not "informed" then try to do your own research rather than complain about someone else not having the same info you dont have... sure not everyone is a model employee im sure, and im sure that at one point you have not had the best service, but why not take the time to change the service, write lebarons a letter, or ask to speak to someone who knows a little more about whatever you're trying to get info on... or just post it here and most of us can answer all your questions... just please stop putting companies down that have only one goal... which is to provide us with what we need... i know that when im looking for something from lebarons or anywhere else i do all my own research on the product, ask questions from people i know, and then phone in with the product number and desciption and application and they normally have it for me within 1 or 2 days... no problems...

I am sure most of you know my view on some of these stores but if we are to do all the research and learn it all ourselves then why even have a store with employees..just to ring your purchase through...come on they are required to have some knowledge and be able to help. If not sign me up for that job where no one ever expects anything from employees and we do not need to know anything of our job. I am pretty sure this would not work well. Go to Bits & Baits, Baitcasters, Ed's ect and they will know the answer or get it for you. That is service...If I have to go and do all this myself then why not just order everything online??? Anyway I also agree that we can not blame bad service on the store which I have learned from my last rant. They do what they can for the wages they make...no more. If they were paid $20.00/hour then I would expect more from them but they are paid peanuts I am sure. Anyway I do not want to keep bashing certain stores anymore cause it gets you nowhere fast
I have worked retail for many years at minimum wage and always prided myself on my service...some people just do it different.
As joco would say..thats my 2cents

BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it.........between season's..........when the ice is unsafe..............when the weather is too brutal to fish...............come to fish-hawk for a giggle.....
I totally have a problem with the lebaron's itself. The problem begins withthe owner's/management etc. This store is strutured like a huge retailer (wal-mart/zellers, crappy tire, etc.). You can't go into a store like that and expect an employee to be able to tell you anything more about the 7.1 Dolby Digital Stereo Receiver (for example) you are looking at, then what is written on the box. If you want details and information you should go to a smaller retailer like Stero Plus, or Audio Tronic.
BTW, the original point of this thread was to find information about other retailers in the area, not basing LeBaron's (although I have some brutal stories, I still shop there... ) or bashing each other.....
Have a beer, watch a fishing show, clean your tackle..... the ice will be safe soon enough......
Just my 4 dollars and 20 cents.....

This is probably post number 486 this year about Le Barons. Like previously said in the last post, and the one before that, and before that, if you dont like the store stop complaining and go somewhere els. There are a few guys there Spence and Brian ( who are on this board often) that are great. You like Lebarons prices and you have a question, ask for one of them. If you dont well then go somewhere els.
If your looking for somewhere els to go I without question point you Paddletales and Bits and Baits and who ever goes there can see why. So go find out for yourself what service is all about and mabey someone here can start a post about how good a place is rather than how bad one place is.
