Man, I tried my luck today and not a single bite! I used worms, spent about 2 hours with no luck. What should I use for cats (other than mice)?

Yes I fish on ON side, by the seats and the trail. Iwill try shrimps next. Is a fish finder usable from shore? If so, what brand/make do you use? I have no boat.

Great job on the cats guys! I have not targeted them yet this year, the crappies have just been on fire....

Spotted a gar pike last night on the river in one of my spots for them....Won't be long now 8)

The way I rig my rod is attach a wire leader, then add couple of small sickers and a hook harness (Eagle claw or Red wolf) then cast out, wait for sinker to reach bottom and then retreive the slack so the line is tight.

Some don't bite too hard and only the tip of rod move for a split second.... But yet again, some do bite hard and one of them almost took my rod down into the water when it striked:shock:

Thanks a lot guys for all the tips. And sorry Fish Finder for mistaking you in joco's post for a fishfinder device :)

I will get my kids to try all the above :) Hopefully they can catch some nice cats.

Thanks again.

I load up the worms on a floating jig head and add enough split shot to get to the bottom starting about 12" up the line. The floating jig head will end up a few inches off the bottom, will wiggle nicely in the current, is more or less snag free and only requires one knot.
