OOS bass fishing a joke(now with pic)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Wallyboss - well said.

I guess I'm going to have to buy a walleye boat, crappie boat, salmon boat and, oh yeah, a mudpout boat.

Unfortunately, most people think if they see a bass boat near a shore, they are "automatically" fishing for bass. Yesterday, I went with a friend fishing in less than 5 feet of water for pike, and don't you know it, we caught 3 largemouth as well. Shame on those bass for biting

Seriously though, all we can do is recommend or comment to people that bass isn't open yet and let them make their own decision. It will catch up to them ......................

I guess it kind of like pay back , if your fishing from a 14 foot tinny and
envy those rangers with 250hp merc going by etc etc......

If your fishing the shallows with a '' Bass Boat'' and the season is not open yet,,,,,,,your fishing for bass.

Thats the attitude most people will have :) :)

You could see them using frogs over the pads and threw the weeds. It was pretty clear to me what they were after.

When you see boats and you can tell what they are tossing from experience you have no doubt they are OOS fishing...regardless of what kind of boat they are in.

Opinion is , you should not even be targeting fish in that area....

And this guy admitted it

You can make excuses for them or you can try to do what it takes to stop it.

I choose to stop it!

My choice.

You guys are butt-hole period. I boat over 50 wallies this spring period. All catch and release to their mommy and daddy on the OTTAWA River's see all the Ice Fishing picture post and Kept for dinner. I was one of the guys in Ottawa River yesterday. I smack over 15 bass all 3 and four pound er. Guess what trophy hunter you saw me too. I was fishing for pike in middle of the river. So I guess I'm the bad boy boo whoo f** off before I report on you fishing for MUSKIE early. I truly believe MNR should close all species togethere, Let it all open same time togethere. So we don't have this problem. It sport we are enjoy for three months a year.

I believe all fishing should only open when Bass season start, So you don't be so an butt$$$$$ on this site. Mr Trophy hunter can you explain why you trolling so close to shore on Sat?? I thought muskies live in deep water. I'm pretty sure you whack a couple of bass with a 6 inch tube or want ever you had. You saw me this Sat, I was in a Red and Black Boat. Trust me I saw the hole thing. By the way why where in that bay anyway?? I never caught a muskies in there anyway??

I'd really like to see our Ministry start doing some studies on what the effect of a year round bass season would do.....I see no reason why we couldn't have that in Ontario as well....our bass populations can clearly handle it IMO....there certainly isn't a shortage....

Just do a C&R season in May and Early June like they do in other places...

Close all fishing season until bass opens....get real...

I may be wrong, but the reasons seasons open and close are a result of the spawning periods of the specific species...if all seaons only opened on bass day, then you would be shortening the whole season of other fish, maybe all seaons should open the same date as muskies (except that wouldnt make sense because it would obviously disrupt the natural reproduction of the bass)...and as for muskies only living in deep water (despite this being my first year fishing for them) I know for a fact that they dont always roam deep water...I've seen countless skies in shallow water

Bass season is open for the prime months in the summer; there is absolutely no need to "practice" catching them OOS. This year I couldn't wait to get out and start throwing some big muskie baits trying to land my first, however, I wouldn't have dreamed fishing for them OOS. Fishing is fishing, if you dont have the patience to wait an extra week you shouldn't be out on the water. I'm not going to say I've never caught something OOS, yet, I have never fished for something OSS.

What are the reprocussions for being caught fishing OOS? I would hope a very hefty fine, or even coniscation of the boat as it was being used in an illegal act....

p.s good for you Matt, maybe next time cast a 13" Believer off the bow of his boat to send him a message haha

My comment was not directed to Matt or anybody else that actually saw the guys tossing bass lures. It was directed at the posting that said that the launch site was full of Bass guys. If you cannot see the guys fishing for bass there is not much you can say about it. Wendover is a popular spot for pike fishing. One bay that I go to all the time is a great spring pike area but once summer comes around it is bass heaven.

OOS Bass

Post by Joey Rat »

The CO's were on the water today. We were jigging picks under the hydro wires when these two guys in full camo and an old beat up princecraft with no "official" marking snuck right up on me.

They did a basic check of licences etc., asked if there was anything in the live well (just the garbage from lunch) and what we had caught so far (1 perch). They also reminded us that bass season opens on Friday, wished us a good day and were on there way.

There was one other boat in the area and he said he had been given a warning to produce his licence withing 7 days but no fines.

Good to see they are out there and checking. First time I've seen them on the Ottawa.

Can't believe people on this site will actually make excuses and try and justify what these guy's were doing. I was there, I saw, there is not a shodow of a doubt that the dozen or so BASS BOATS that I saw were absolutely, 100% targeting bass. Landing them, and smiling for the camera.

Come to think of it STRATOS BOY. I for sure saw a couple of STRATOS BOYS out there and seeing as you materialized from lurking just for this post YOU WERE PROBABLY ONE OF THEM. Obviously you have never fished for muskies as is evidence buy your RIDICULOUS reply, and are just looking to stir the pot with someone who has more integretiy than you do in your little toe.

To quote you STARTOS BOY "I was there, I saw" are openly admiting that you were in fact out there POACHING?[/b]

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU

Comments like this are exactly why people need to be more informed on fish habitat and spawning habits.

BTW are you talking to TMH or me??? Are you the guy I saw in the skeeter boat?

Please elaborate your comment. I'd love to discuss this further with you.

To say the truth Dan, If you have a 10$ frog to spare, top water frogs are absolutly pike magnets. I was throwing them today and was hammering Pike on them, and to top it off, a bass did not touch it all day.

Oppps! I did catch a shmalllllie jigging up walleye early this morning.

I did witness a few guy flippin in another stratos in a back bay, Ba***rds

Some posts are getting a little too hostile here. Please refrain from the name calling, insults, and unproven accusations. I realize that this is a hot topic, but lets try to keep this thread constructive and up on the site.
