5lb Smallie or 5lb Largie ---which turns you on the most?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Has to be a largie for me..

Pegging a 4+ lb fish on a flipping rod in shallow cover is like no other feeling - at least in terms of fishing.

But the best feeling has to be pegging a 5+ or a 6lber from deep water - which is my favourite tactic come late fall. It's like hooking into a cement block...

Then again, perhaps I'm slightly biased - as most of my bass fishing is spent chasing the green coloured ones...

Good Fishing,

Justin

Everyone of my pics was taken by the same person......me. I use a trick that Justin Hoffman mentioned in one of his posts quite a while back. I put a tripod in the boat.

4-6lb smallies       ........keep that one to yourself unless you'd like me there too

And yes.....it would be a 5lb smallie for me

Thanks for the invite. :D :D
One of my fishin' buds has a friend around Simcoe. We kinda have a trip to Simcoe planned around September. One of those phone call trips....(the fish are bittin' get your butts down here kind of arrangements) Tim has a camper w/boat so we are ready as far as accomodations go.
I'll be happy for any advice with regards for the best time to go, as well as stuff we should be careful of and watch out for. Simcoe is Big Water and should be respected as such.
One of my friends in Pa. got a 7lb+ smallie out of Erie( Pa. waters)
A 6lb+ smallie is the holy grail of fish to me

Thanks again!!

let me know when you go, and i'll do my best to help you with some info.

i know erie much better, as its closer to me, but i've fished simcoe a number of times.

i troll for trophy smallies in the fall/winter so i'm not much help with jiggin' info...which is what most folks do.... :D

you'll have a blast, and i bet you get a five lbs smallie. (the sixes are a little tougher, but fives are certainly do-able)
