Lakers from a canoe?
Lakers from a canoe
Haven't fished for lakers in this area, but I grew up on a lake trout lake. Around this time of year, if there is still a bit of ice on the lake, try to find a rocky beach bottom with about 10-12 feet of water. A herring rigged with a quickstrike on bottom always got me my limit and then some. The next fun period in a canoe is when the pollen hits the lake (sorry, we didn't take water temp back then), the trout are up on top, and you can catch the easily on light tackle. Blue jointed Rapalla's were always a sure-fire producer for me.
