Hi Solstrum,
The wound has closed up, so I don't think it would do anything now...that's definitely a new one on me (the milk / bread)! Sounds a lot safer (and tastier) than Bass Addict's "One Easy Step to Tetanus" approach.
I may amuse my doctor when I run these suggestions past him on Friday. The bigger issue will be cholesterol, but it will be interesting to hear what he suggests!
W.
PS: welcome to Fish-Hawk, Solstrum. Don't let people like Bass Addict frighten you away.

The milk and bread thing does work. I usually bring the milk to a boil, then put the bread in it until it becomes pasty. Place it on the wound. Cover it up, and leave it over night. I guarantee whatever is in your wound will be gone in the morning. I do not know how it works, but it does. Try it next time.

Wow Margie,
Sounds like you got yourself in quite a pickle with this one. That's never happened to me, but I love the suggestions.
The only advise I can suggest, if these other ideas don't work, is to consult your doctor on what should be done. That's the best thing I think, but some great suggestoins. I think I'll make this a "Tip" for others who may experience such things in the future.
Cheers,

This bread & milk poultice seems to have worked for a few of you, but I still don't think it would be effective now that the wound has closed completely and has been this way for quite some time.
My doctor said I could have it removed, but this often proves difficult (to locate the actual foreign body). My father-in-law had a bit of sharp scale off a large Wahoo embed itself in his finger. He ended up needing surgery under anesthesia (not local sedation, but getting knocked out!) to remove it! I'm not at that juncture yet!
Doc also said I could just leave it in, if it wasn't bothering me too much and was not infected (it's not). There's a chance it will work itself out, and also a chance that it might give me trouble down the line. Right now, aside from the odd tingling, it's no big deal.
I'm willing to watch and wait!
Anyway, there's always the option of visiting that crazy old witchdoctor, BassAddict, who has a rusty nail, some scotch and a bit of sadistic enthusiasm at the ready.
So I'm literally carrying around a piece of a fish in me, and hoping that it will give me some secret powers when angling...an inside advantage (pun!). Figures it would be from a rockbass, though.

Oh dont worry about that, I am a solid poster on several hockey boards and can handle the off beats.wolfe wrote:Hi Solstrum,

I have been lurking here for close to 2 years and enjoy all the reports. I am mostly after trout in the bogie, but do some walleye fishing as well.
Keep up the reports guys and pics are always appreciated.
Doctor Doug suggests Canadian Rye Whisky, taken internally at regular intervals, until you don't CARE about the foreign object.
But if it was me, YES I would be poking at it with a sharp object until the foreign object came out. AND I would properly prep the patient with the aforementioned general anesthetic.
Good luck, kiddo!
