Charlston Lake June 19 Report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Great results guys... i forgot to mention the wind in my post as on more than one occasion i mentioned to bacon that it's not the nicest of days to be out in a boat... the stronger winds hit us mid morning and i would say they were in the 40km+ range.

hey LT

we started off in the Middle of a large bay to (don't know the name)(surface temp..72)we worked the middle....we were marking large schools of bait fish.....when the wind picked up the bait fish moved..so we moved to the east shore,20 to 30 yards off shore, Topwater took one fish in the middle and the other two , that we caught were on the protected side oF wolfe island......we marked large schools of bait fish in about 160FOW ....but I never marked fish with the bait fish...Xenos was marking them tight to the bottom... no takers..... but all in all it was fun....we did start to use sliders....after we started to use them(sliders) thats when the fish started to hit...not the sliders...all our fish came off the main line...but as Xenos said more flash to attract the fish..looking forward to going out there again and trying again

Temp 73 uggh
That would explain why you were fishing deep. Looking forward to getting into some LT in the next 2 weeks also. Glad I took care of that safety concern!!!!!

Hey bud

I have two down riggers on my boat also.....to prevent roll overs.....Xenos has four.....he has a great set up....might have to add two more.....just balance the boat ...when the front live well is full of water
as you know a boat not riding level in the water is also unsafe

Livewell???
Mine is now a POP Cooler, with 2" of stryofoam, last trip I added Dry Ice and ice, good for 5 days!!
15lbs of Dry Ice though was near $40
2 D.Riggers are enough for me. I still love running those small inline planer boards. I get a kick out of watching them stop in the water, then hearing the reel sing.
Might have to get a bigger boat though
j/k
Did manage to get to Fort Erie this AM,I was told they have some discontinued Williams Whitefish in stock, only 2 though

Just curious......,were any fish taken off the cheaters?? I've never really tried to fish with cheaters but I'm willing to give it a try.

Big-O and Xenos...

Could you please PM me or post directions and some fishing tips/spots for Charleston. I am taking out a couple of guys I work with out on Tuesday and they both love trout...I figure this would be a good lake to give a try.

BTW I live in Perth so I am sure the drive would be pretty short :)

Great report and thanks for the pictures...

cheers'

Sounds like you guys had some good luck. I was just wondering what a NK28 is???? I am guessing the NK is short for northing king. It sounds like alot of fishermen are getting lakers on that lure.

Just too give u an Idea, I caught 5 lakers at charleston on a $1.86 Red Wolf Spoon  So anything goes, but I especially believe a lure with a good shine and a large eye on it works fantastic, experiment and have fun.
