I do this all the time also. If you're just going slow to your next spot it's not worth the effort to lift it out of the water.

I do that frequently when moving more than a couple of hundred feet. It saves the battery on all day outings plus it's quicker too.
I was going to attempt to be funny with my reply and say it is a kinetic energy recovery system - the turning blades on the Motorguide recharge the deep cycle battery

i left mine or actualy it fal down and broke.the shat in 1/2 on mine.
mabe going slow spot to spot its ok then..so you were going spot to spot then..
