The Situation!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

If hooking up with weeds is a problem use a slip bobber or clip on bobber to set depth and drop a swim bait or some sort plastic bait with tie point in middle of body under the bobber. I like big baits this time of year to keep bass strikes down.

Moose, thanks, I'll give it a try, I thought I was done at the tackle store! I got a Rapala Gliding Rap for Christmas from my daughter, it a large lure that is used with a slow retrive and twitched for a side to side darting action. Gonna give it a try also.

Riverdog, never tryed that, do you use the swimbait as you wud live bait on a bobber? Not sure what you do there! Joe.

Wow, I've been off the computer for a week and there's tons of stuff to read and catch up on....but this one caught my eye for now before I'm off and running again!

Joe,

I will try to find the back issue of In Fisherman that has a really interesting article on big pike. Big pike don't necessarily want big lures.

PM me your mailing address and if I can find it, I'll mail you the issue for you to devour, especially the article I am thinking of as it talks about the situation you are questioning.

Joe,

the planets must be in alignment because I went and put my hands on the magazine in less than a minute. Wow, what's that all about?

Anyway, the article is very interesting and I think you'll get some useful info out of it. Let me know if you want the back issue.

Hey Margie, I'm talkin about the area rite in front of Griffin's, last year I caught a wack of pike there on a floating Rapala minnow but they were not real big. I noticed with that lure and a few similiar ones the big, and I mean big, pike followed it in but didn't hit. Got alot of options now, I sent you a PM, Joe.

Joe,

those big but cautious gators tailing your lure can stop your heart. I remember pretty much forgetting to breathe when an absolute monster followed in right up to my boat at Charleston a couple of years back. Biggest one I've ever seen, and I'll never forget it.
