From what I understand, the Walleye were introduced into Lake Clear to control panfish numbers as the panfish population was having an impact on oxygen levels. That's it in a nutshell. I have forgotton the 'exact' details.

:D Ive been fishing crotch for three years consistently now. A week in July and back for a week in September and ive caught all species but Lake trout, mostly walleye on the troll, the odd nice bass, all the pike have been running small from what ive seen and tons of panfish in 6-8 feet of weeded areas in side bays. In all i enjoy fishing crotch and will continue to do so until something drastic happens.
