What is the all around best kind of line to use on a reel?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I agree with ET. 10 lb mono is the best, all round fishing line.

I have taken what is left of my power pro and taken it off the reel and thrown it in the garbage as I can not afford to us it anymore.
Don't throw it away, take it back to the shop, get the staff test the line, you might be able to get your money back or at least get a new spool. That's what I did on PowerPro 30lb test, it breaks at about 5lb!!!

Another thing on this line, yea it doesn't have memory, so tangles less, yet when it does, it's a lot worse than mono.

I just had the same experience today. Brought home the Fireline, spooled it up and immediatly hated the stuff, snapped really easily and then rats nestted on me.

It felt brittle and dry and very rough, not smooth at all. I packed it into an envelope, attached my receipt and promptly sent it to Berkley asking for a refund. Prior to that I have almost always used Trilene. I think it might be time to try Spiderwire because Bekley left a bad taste in my mouth.

Any comments on spider wire?

I use and love the fusion BUT it kinda feels ruff, dry and kinda brittle but doesnt snap easy and I find I can pick out the profesional overruns easyer than with mono. I will admit I havent used any other super lines but like fusion so why switch. Kinda like leaving fish to find fish.
