Thanks for the info .. that is great.jona38 wrote:You can get on at the White lake marina and also the Waba cottage museum. Smitty is correct about pickerel bay lodge, no access there. Not sure where you coming from but you can also get on at Sunset bay (off hwy 511). Jon
You piqued my interest with the Sunset Bay access. I am coming from Smiths Falls and that would be closer for me. Is it a boat launch?
I drove in there on day a couple years ago to find the launch but after coming to the fork in the road and no more signs I gave up.
Re: white lake report
There is a boat launch at Sunset bay. If you take a look at Google earth, its just past the fork in the road where Wabalac Road forks to Wabalac Side Road (stay right). It sounds confusing but if you look at Google earth I'm sure you will figure it out. Jon
Re: white lake report
CC fyi it's not really any closer to Sunset bay than it is to Cedar Cove. I would decide where to access depending on where you plan on fishing the lake.
Cheers

And the idea of lunch near the lake sounds pretty good too.
Thanks.
Re: white lake report
With apologies to toddc for going off topic I want to respond to Bobfly who did.
As for your "Go buy it at the store" comment, that has to be the most outrageous, irresponsible comment I've ever heard come out of your pie hole. How someone in your position as a FMZ advisory member, (I think) could come out with a comment like that is beyond me. Kinda scary actually if you do have any influence on fishing policy. What next, a one fish limit with a slot? So no one should keep any fish because they can buy farm raised fish at the store? Hogwash. You should be ashamed of yourself IMO. I think you just want all the good fishing for yourself, or so it seems at times.
Tks to the OP for the rant. I feel better now.
Cheers
Bobfly good for you for releasing your fish but you shouldn't force that on everyone else as some people actually like to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Nothing wrong with that if it's done responsibly. After all, it is a Put and Take fishery. Don't forget that.bobfly wrote: I almost always release my fish. We don't have enough fish around here to keep other than panfish. Go buy it at the store.

Re: white lake report
Bobfly admits on his own blog to breaking MNR fishing regualtions because he feels that they don't apply to himself. Quote from his blog... ''I'm usually flipping around a dry fly with another rod at the same time (illegal out here but consider myself grandfathered since I am from B.C......not much chance of seeing a CO. In 20 years, I've only seen two and neither asked for my license. It was hunting season). ''

I just think it is scary that somebody is actively trying to restrict fishing opportunities through powers achieved by an Advisory Panel on fishing, yet doesn't feel the need to abide by laws that already exist. Their concern should be concentrated on maintaining and increasing fishing opportunities, both for sport and sustenance. If somebody loses sight of this then they don't have the fishery as their main concern. It definitely sheds a bad light on members of the Advisory Panel.

man this is entertaining
Re: white lake report
RJ - Absolutely... I left out that word. I don't know who the members of the Panel are, besides yourself and Bobber (I think...). I am sure there are genuine fishing embassadors on the Panel, (thank you all for your time and effort by the way... it is appreciated) and I made that comment because as an outsider it seems some people talk about their personal agendas and the Panel in the same breath. So maybe those in the panel should be concerned about how they are viewed as a group.
An extreme example is in the US, I am sure there are good, reasonable people in the NRA. But one outspoken individual on CNN can taint every member as being completely nuts. Here in Canada... I am sure there are some honest Senators who don't cheat the system.... well we can hope
It's all about perception.
Oh yeah...apologies for aiding in hijacking the thread.
