TEAM 28

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Smitty.... you're a hunter... correct?
Do you come out of the woods everytime with a 10 pointer?
Like Team 28 or not... 'laughing your a$s off' is not sportsmanlike. If I can recommend something... just roll your eyes and shake your head like most anti hunters than can't figure out why we wear camo (Jerseys), buy new guns (rods, reels), and of course razz a fellow hunter who missed a deer or got buck fever... (with a smile and a back slap). Just my opinion.

Tournament fishing is a humble sport. One moment were on top of the world the next moment were trying to understand why we spend the hours, money, driving, gas, and hotel and time away from our loved ones to be out there. But I can tell you one thing those who do it have a level of respect for one another win or lose. One fish of five. We all fish from start to finish and congratulate or sympathize for those who failed. Its part of the game it doesn't deserve ridicule on a public forum.
Fishing along with golf are the hardest sports to master, so many variables, different situations, and conditions are thrown at us.

I must say one thing however, Id like to thank Team 28 for fishing Renegade last year and this year even though I'm not there. It was great to see them out there competing with the best anglers Ontario has to offer. I also throw out a challenge to other members on FH to participate either in an open renegade event or in next years pro am! Go out on the water and experience what competitive fishing is all about. Theres nothing truly like a series where your skills and knowledge are put to the test. And like Paul said TEAM 28 in their first year almost did that in 4 events rather then 5. Which is very impressive.

Smitty55 we all know what it feels like to plan, dedicate and put a load of time into a fishing trip. Only to get out there and the weather sucks or the fish are just not where they should be. You do everything in your power you can think of to get a bite. But nothing tugs on the other end. You spend a ton of cash on gas, timmys, lunch, and gear to do it. You find yourself out there 7, 8, 9 hours hoping that last cast you make will be the one good fish that justifies the time and dedication you put in. Only it never happens and you head for the ramp, you and your buddy shrug your heads and say wow that was rough it was Almost like work! Now you take all that and put it into a day when it matters most. When you need to perform or the year youve been waiting for is over. Its a long winter..You see where Im going with this Smitty55.? Were all passionate and dedicated anglers on this board weekenders, beginners, tournament guys and smug fisherman alike. Why would you ridicule or wish this on individuals who share our passion? Regardless of what theyve said to make you tick in the past. Its just not right!

Paul your post brought a tear to my eye!

I don't think I've ever read that much disrespect on a fishing forum. EVERYONE has a bad day on the water and will come back stronger from something you learnt. I'm sure team 28 will have a better day on franny!

WOW was the understatement! The highlight of your summer? You need to get out more bud! If seeing a team struggle was the highlight of your summer, that's about the saddest thing I've heard! EVER!

No matter how bad the posts team 28 has made In the past, you just proved to be in a lower class all alone!

My opinion is in no reflection of the shootout series, this was not our event to make replies on, but this is the opinion of a angler that has zero'd in GM Pro Bass, zero'd in renegade, and zero'd in other events! Those zero's has only made me a better more hard working angler, that could yes! zero again tomorrow!!!

I'd want to read some of Team 28's previous posts that Smitty referred to before I pass judgement.

Geeze Smitty... I know that "Team 28" got under your skin, but... WOW!

If this isn't a personal attack, I don't know what is.

This clearly crosses the line drawn in the Fish-Hawk Code of Conduct.

Here is the kicker; "Team 28" doesn't want this thread locked, delete or edited. They even have said that they prefer no suspension or anything be done about it.

I have had my issues with "Team 28" in the past. They pizzed me off like few others have on this site to the point where I was enraged and was trying to figure out where one of them live! I have since come to realize that they are a couple of knuckle heads with a sense of humor and have a lot to contribute.

But I digress; This is NOT a defense of Team 28.

This is a plea for some sort of normalcy and respect. Respect for Fish-Hawk.

Please don't attack members. If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all. Simple rules to live by in here and in life.

Thank you for using the "Ignore" feature and I hope it makes your experience on this site more pleasurable and results in no more of these types of threads.

To any new members reading this thread,, these guys have "History" and this thread is not indicative of what you can expect when becoming an active member of this site. If you experience any harassment or personal attacks, forward the PMs or threads to me or any other moderator.

They CERTAINLY have danced on, and played hopscotch on the line of what is acceptable on this forum. No doubt. I have had a few discussions with them at various times over the past couple of years. The original post in this thread is quite far over the line. Smitty just got caught up I think and would not normally do this.

With his use of the "Ignore" button, I think it wont happen again.

Something good that has come out of this whole thing is the classy and well thought out posts from members who have zero'd and/or had some tough showings in tournaments.

I am NOT saying that "Team 28" are élite, but look at Eugenie Bouchard! She flamed out in her first match in Montreal as a 6th seed.

Is she a looser? (Shut up BassAddict!!)

I know its only the internet, but I guess I don't totally support the gentle flogging that Smitty is getting here IF Team 28 "made their own bed".

Having said that in defence of Smitty, at times revenge is a dish that tastes MUCH better served up cold. Sometimes you can say the most by saying nothing at all with a grin

But it would be fine if the thread had gone the way he intended it? A bashing of "Team 28" circle jerk?

Nothing is better than when you see someone going to kick a cat, miss and break their foot kicking a sidewalk instead.

In this case, Smitty is wrong for posting a malformed attack on two members who struggled in a tournament... in other cases, it was wrong of "Team 28" to pull Smitty's chain. They have take their own floggings in those threads by the same people who are now taking Smitty to task.

I guess that's why I don't post very often, a bit to much "circle-jerking". At the end of the day its only the internet, and you know what they say about opinions... :)

My problem with the post is, it is attacking all tournament anglers! And it rips the heart out when it happens.

Every tour angler has had these days! Tour anglers are a tight knit group! We all act like we are about to go to war the way we prepare for tournaments. If the original post was not about a tournament, and the poster just call them meatballs or worse, this thread would be dead! I sure would have said nothing as I know neither parties involved personally.
