there be chrome in them creeks!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Markus wrote:Finally, some decent bows. I made my way down to a local trib and visited a couple pools that I had scouted out earlier this spring. From my high postion I could see a few dark fish moving about...couldn't tell if they were salmon or carp. The pool was big and deep, but the entrance and exit to it was very shallow. I knew these fish weren't going anywhere, so I made a combat stealth approach that would have impressed the heck out of Floatfishin.

Now that I'm close - their small salmon...pinks I think. First cast I drifted a piece of roe right past the lead fish in the pool and out of the darkness of the pool comes a flash of siver and wham!! Fish on!

I visited 3 pools and pulled 4 nice bows out. I also lost a bow and a salmon. I was able to get 2 fish to hook up in each pool and went 4 for 6.

The bows were extremely aggresive. One came over the top of a salmon to smash the roe bag. In another pool, the fish were chasing each other. I'd see a bow chasing a salmon, then a salmon chasing a bow! These fish are begging for rain to get them moving. I'm guessing the rain this weekend will bring up a really nice run from the lake.

Good show, interesting looking fish. The ones on the ground look like aquaculture (Indian) fish, but that's impossible seeing as they are from Erie. Perhaps they are just really healthy Normandale or Ganny strain fish. Good going, anyway, wish I knew where that was, though I have two guesses...

hey markus nice bows!! you must of been closer to the lake to keep that many bows cus i know if you go up river you can only keep one bow!! im going out early tomorrow moring to the grand for some steelie action! i dont like fishing in tight areas with logs not much fun when yu have to run after the fish and its not much of a fight cus yu end up getting broke off. My buddy has landed some nice bows latly he gets about 6 every day on aveg about 10 pounds a piece!! If you want to meet up some where let me know

To answer your question UF, I do practice catch and release, but with bows I always keep my limit before one gets a free pass.

My freezer if 4X4 and currently is housing 8 rainbow fillets (that'll be off to the smoker Mon), 12 chinook steaks, 6 lbs of perch fillets, a one big gar! haha. I not only eat a lot of fish, but we give a lot away. Having 4 sport liciences in the house enables us to keep a lot of fish if we choose, but we rarely have more than 4 or 5 meals in the freezer. I perfer it fresh.

Let me know if you're in the area sometime, you're always welcome to joing me for a fish.

Sledded, I'm not awear of your regulation fact??? I know on the grand in certain areas you're only permited to keep 1 fish after Sept 30th, but I'm not aware of that restriction for any of the fall extended tribs in this area.

Did I miss something in the regs?

Smart mark. Nice shots too, gotta love digital. Every pic is worth a good looking over cause you never know what sweet photo lies inside the original shot.

60 second delay though... geez it takes your butt a good amount of time to get down a little hill

I wanted to get back to the fish and give it a minute for the mud I stirred up towash down the creek.

I loved how clear the creek was and I wanted to capture that in the pic.

And besides...I'm positive the fat ferry has replaced my wadders with a size or two smaller ones! I am moving a bit slow in those ones...can't even get both shoulder straps snapped!!

oh and bunk, I love the new avatar!!
