I don't think this site has much at all to do with the pressure on the main 'Bogie' lakes... its basically been the same on those lakes for years and years. When did this site get into gear? And the current situation is that its busy one day and deserted the next day... its not bad at all.
Everybody knows about those lakes. Arguing about it is ridiculous.
I had to post cuz it's funny as hell. Some notes about the # of viewers on a topic - each time you click the topic the counter for that topic goes up - I tried it on an older little viewed topic, backing up clicking again etc. The site isn't smart enough to log your IP and only increment the counter if you haven't viewed it before. Also when going from one page to the next the counter increments. So a 13 page post will get incremented 13 times for 1 person reading the whole thing - more if he/she backs up. So the 3000+ views on this topic may only have been viewed by 100 people. As for the "lurker" thing. I rarely login - unless it's to post or upload a photo, check pm's etc (which is rare for me to receive). So while the public naming of "secret" spots and all that may be taboo, there is an element of paranoia that is unwarranted. There was 30 or so people who responded to the Poll, my guess is 70% of the counter hits are from them, the rest from "lurkers" and readers like myself who don't often take the time to login.
Nothing wrong with organizing something like this publically on this forum - even keep the location quiet until its published prior to the event via PM or through email or whatever if it makes you more comfortable, but I think being worried that a spot will get pounded or destroyed after a location name pops up may be a bit too much (paranoia that is).
Best of luck to you hard water fishers, I last tried it on the rock with boy scouts in the early 80s. Seems like the gear and the technology has come a long way to make it a full blown hobby, but I think I'll stick to the softwater stuff - the wife has already given me so much flak for the deniero I've sunk into it.
