biggest walleye thread

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

This was one caught by Eric that was brought up from deep and had cold water blisters, we kept her in the livewell to make sure she was good and revived then went to shallow water at the end of the day and released her.

Terry, Sheldon, and Eric, here are some of the pics of the eyes you guys got since Terry kind of requested I post them. They are in the previous thread to this one.

It's too bad this thread didn't exclude Quinte Eyes...as you can see by the responses, it takes nothing special to get a big walleye from there.

I really enjoyed the pics of the eyes from other Ontario systems though and would like to see more of those.

Please clarify your post to read 'Quinte Eyes in open water'

it takes something special to get a truly "big" quinte walleye...thats for sure...

I personally feel, from Quinte, only Sheldons 15lbs'er is the only "big" quinte fish on this thread...

oh, the other fish from the non-quinte bodies of water, anything over about five lbs is a great fish!

my dad caught one from Lake Paudash in 1988 that went 6lbs...he's much more proud of that fish than his 14lbs 11 ounces from quinte....

my own feeling of quinte is cut the fish weight in half for an indication for the rest of the province...ie, a 10lbs quinte fish would be equal to a 5lbs other walleye (not including Erie).

but again, i've put a lot of time at quinte, and sure, 9 through 12 lbs fish are common and easy to catch (at the right times).

once you cross the 15lbs mark, you truely are into a special fish. (i know, cause we haven't done it yet)

My biggest 6lbs 15oz, 26" ( On picture) but not my pb. Wish I had a picture of my 12lbs eye from my younger days, I only have the one that is engraved in my mind, which is the reason I concentrate mostly on eyes , I've been hooked ever since that day.

Thats more than a bit harsh Marcus...if not a bit insulting to the guys that posted the pictures. We all know that Quinte eyes are larger but your post comes across as belittling their catches and pictures....

the thread is really about personal bests..not about biggest for a certain body of water. I may post a 2 pound fish as being my 'personal best' from X body of water....would that make me 'nothing special' because there are 5 pound fish there as well? Its special to me....and i thought that was the whole purpose

sorry...i guess i just don't see that because its from quinte that it makes someone's PB nothing special.

Well Andy, sorry you feel that way.

It's your personal opinion that certain 2lb walleye are something special and it's my personal opinion that 10lb eyes from Quinte aren't anything special.

I enjoy seeing the brutes from other bodies of water where they are rare....that's all.

It's like looking at Fraser River Sturgeon...awesome fish, but that same 12' sturgeon from Muskrat Lake would be really special.
