Carp show feed back

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I got there about 11:45. It was "Mens day out" at the show. I had my son and my two oldest grandsons(6 & 7) with me. Bit of a line outside. At least the rain had stopped briefly. You can't do anything abouth the weather other than be prepared.

I never was at the Carp show and was quite impressed. I was taken back at how crowded it was. Nevertheless everyone was in good spirits and having a good time. Stopping at Paddletales, I restocked my Flappin' Weasels and was quite excited to see Ed was stocking a bait I was looking forImage

Stopping at the Fish-Hawk booth, I had an opportunity to have a chit-chat with Rob and Lawrence. Rob gave my grandson, Nathan a Fish-Hawk sticker. We'll put that on Nathan's tackle box. Lawrence took time to talk to Nathan and answer questions from a curious 6yr old.

Although I looked everywhere, I never did see the booth 24/7 and Bass Addict were signing autographs at

Well worth it in my oppinion.

only comment i have is to look at everyone's prices before you buy anything.
you can buy one thing for $10 one place and buy the exact same thing across the arena for $5!
I came across the same thing today!!!!....DON'T buy anything from any of the vendors until you do the full walk-around to compare everyone's prices!!!
Yeah, that happened to me to. I bought two baits at one place for 10.99 a piece plus tax and saw them a few minutes later at 6.00 a piece taxes in. Back I went to the first vendor to return them. They were initially reluctant to do that but quickly realized that there was going to be one heck of an argument in front of a long line of people waiting to pay :D

Sure was crowded late Saturday morning through to mid afternoon.
Haven't read where anybody paid any attention to the fishing seminars.
Some darn good presentations. Yes, sure was a lot of Musky Stuff on sale.
Dale's record catch sure has instilled a lot of faith in the Musky fishermen and ladies.
Enjoyed the show even if it was cool and damp out.. typical weather for the Carp fishing show.

The seminar area should be moved to the opposite end of the building next year...it is currently right at the main entrance where the admission tickets are being sold and I found it slightly distracting...the cold breeze coming in through the open front doors wasn't that nice either....

Other feedback: there should be more than 1 area to buy admission tickets and it should be under a tent in the event that it rains like yesterday!!

Hopefully Dave will be reading this...

We all talk about the rain!!! I can't even remember the last time I went to the Carp Show and it was actually nice out.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!

I had to change plans and went yesterday, not today...

The place was packed... GREAT to see all the people supporting the stores, etc...

I picked up a new rig, a Curado 201E7 and Shimano Curcial 6'6" Extra-Fast Medium rod... I like to throw 1/2oz poppers etc so I wanted a new setup for that style of fishing...

I also looked for an 8wt/9wt fly rod, but it was so busy there I didn't want to put any more pressure on my wife who was very accommodating... I'll get looking for my new fly rod from one of the locals this week.

Better than avg show in my opinion... well done to Dave Arbor and his team.

762nato and I hit the show yesterday afternoon after stopping in at Baitcasters new store just south of Carleton Place (GREAT store, GREAT selection!).

As others have noticed, there was a plethora of muskie stuff there for sure. After walking all around the show, I only found one item I needed, and that was a four dollar knife sheath. You KNOW you have too much gear when you don't need a single blessed thing at a show...........

I had primarily wanted to scope it out to decide if I would rent space next year to display (and hopefully sell) guns and related items. Other than Gerry Coppens, the gun tables were in the dingy hallways where prospective buyers would have experienced difficulty in examining a firearm carefully for marks, cracks, etc etc. But I think that the show has a LOT of traffic, and will be worthwhile to spend the time, money and effort to be there as an exhibitor.

I recall that somebody said in a previous post that there was a LOT of gun/hunting stuff any more, where it used to be mostly fishing. My observation would be that there really was not much gun stuff, but for sure there were some large hunting gear displays and booths selling same.

First time for me at this show, won't be the last, and I agree strongly with the point about having the seminars in a corner away from the main door.
