In truth, there is no real bad fish to catch but the finest thrill I've had was watching the son of an old friend of mine bring a large Whitefish up through the ice on lake Simcoe. The water was crytal clear and bluish and you could see that silvery fish get larger and larger as it came up the 40 or so feet through the ice into the hut. The kids eyes were almost out of his head.
Musky for me in freshwater! as for freshwater Cuda or sharks are my favorite I have caught. For the Pan I enjoy walleye, crappie, grouper and Mutton snapper the best
I've been fortunate enough to go fishing in the Florida keys(with a guide of course) I love fishing for sport fish in Ontario, I'd have to say Pike are my favorite....but there's no better feeling that hooking and landing a 50lb 'Cuda ! That by far is the best fight of your life....unless you hook a hammerhead like my cousin did....it was funny....the fact that only his ego was harmed, makes it funnier.
Well I haven't fished enough to compare catches, but for right now I'd say LM Bass. My buddies and I love to go out and catch some LM then cook em right up. I also really love top water fishing and see a Bass smash my lure reminds me of why I love fishing.
I also really enjoy trying new techniques and since Bass are less challenging to catch then Walleye for example, its fun to catch Bass on top waters, jigs, cranks, spinners, frogs, etc.
fishhead, hear you on the Cudas... I have caught 3 big ones, the biggest was a 51"er, the other ones were just shy of 50... great fight, great leaps and on lighter tackle then I use for musky
Until this question is asked again AFTER I catch my 1st muskellunge, I will answer SMALLMOUTH BASS. They are, in my opinion, a challenge to land with their impressive aerial acrobatics and bullish fight. Nothing beats a bronze brute bashing your surface lure on a calm surface. This 1st choice is followed very closely by PIKE for sheer adrenaline rushes.
