Thought of one other thing in regards to posting reports.......JUST DO IT! We are lucky if we have two dozen members on here that routinely post reports.....that out of the thousand's of members.
Participation is the number one criteria......what it looks like is certainly secondary.
Good Fishing,
Justin

This is an interesting topic, for sure, with some great points made. I think, to me, Out4trout's statements are "right on":
The alternative is we could have a standardized form for reports where we check off our catches, sizes, lure choices, weather, etc. Can you imagine how mudane and tedious that would be to read?

I also enjoy the originality of many participants' reports on FH.net and look forward to the unique "flavour" they offer the site!

Being yourself and just telling about your fishing experiences in your own words and in your own style keeps things ORIGINAL.Out4trout wrote:
Point is, we should encourage everyone to post reports, and continue each in their own style.
My advice, for those who don't have a report style yet, don't attempt to mimic others, just write up a report - and be yourself!! Yours may be the next unique style that people will come to enjoy.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Pics help a tonne with helping to put you there and keep you there with the angler reporting. Some reports could be awesome just as pictorials themselves... with few to no words. But then... why not add words.
From 24/7's crazy sayings to Wolfe's heartfelt experiences to Justin's matter of fact and everything in between... if you as an angler like reporting, then report. If you feel your reports aren't strong... keep reporting.

In my opinion there is no such thing as a bad report. I only get out once or twice a month so I read every report and every story with the eagerness of a schoolboy. I love to learn what other people are using, what type of water they are in, what the weather is like, etc. The pictures are great whether taken with a blackberry or with a $1000 camera with special lenses. To see that people take the time and effort to help us learn and live through their experiences is great.
And to throw out a special thank you to MooseBunk. His multi-page, picture heavy stories are all worthy of publication and make me jealous every time I read them.

I thumbed through my old ESOX Angler issues and thought I recognized a few faces....gerrymackenzie wrote:....MooseBunk. His multi-page, picture heavy stories are all worthy of publication.
For me a report doesn't have to be about catching tons of fish. When the bite is hot, they'll hit all kinds of things. I like the reports where one has to work for their fish, eliminate water, analyze presentation a bit. Something I can take away and use the next time I'm having a tough day. A picture of a nice big one is great, but it's also just nice to see a few pics of the outing to visualize it a bit. Who cares if it's not a monster.
I'd like to post reports but my camera man sucks and I'm doing more scouting than fishing... or so I tell myself when the bite is off
