Lots of ignorance here. Why all the hatred for cottagers? Plenty of Fish Hawkers love Charleston Lake for its Lake Trout and Bass and so do the bass tournament guys. Now what have any of you done for Charleston Lake except take from it? Most people don't even pay to launch a boat there.

The Charleston Lake Association is over a 100 years old. In my lifetime they have worked extremely hard maintaining the lake and pushing conservation. Sometimes there adgenda and anglers didn't always jive but they always put the health of the lake before anything else. More so than any fishing club or tournament. Most important they have never tried to restrict access to anyone and actually do a very good job maintaining shoal markers, access etc. for everyone. Contrast that to a local guides association that remove shoal markers on there lakes.

If any money is passing hands, Cottage owners should perhaps pay a $$ tax levy which would be used for shoreline rehabilitation to offset damage caused by shoreline vegetation loss on cottage properties.

I'm not sure but don't the cottage owners already pay as part of all those extra taxes they pay. If not then the municiple governments are using all that extra cash on wastefull spending and not where it should be.

It's nice to see guys like Glen explain all the steps his organistion does to limit the negative impact from their tournaments. But there still is a negative impact for the profits of a few. It may be smaller for Renegade then others but it definitely not a positive impact thats for sure.

Also I'm willing to bet a land owner on average will be a little more caring for a waterbody than someone coming from out of town to try and profit over a weekend tourney that he may never come back again.

BTW a single tournament with it's many experienced anglers will put more pressure on a lake in a week then the locals can do in a year.
